iOS 4.2.1 released today

iOS 4.2 Update iTunes

Finally it has been released for iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad alike. You can get it form iTunes. No word yet on jailbreaking, although, it was reported that the Geohot’s exploit was working up to 4.2 beta 3. As of now I am updating my iPhone 4 and will report back if limera1n is working with final release of 4.2.1.

Update: I’m not sure why it says 4.2 on the update, and is actually 4.2.1. Way to confuse people Apple.

Below you can see the changelog, my favorite feature is the ability to find text in safari!

iTunes 10.1 released

iTunes 10.1 Software Update

Hot on the heels of 10.6.5 iTunes 10.1 has been released today. It was rumored on the interwebs that this update along with the iOS 4.2 (which has not been released yet) would hit the web shortly after  10.6.5. Soon all iPad owners will be rejoice as they can then multitask!

As described in the picture above, this update to iTunes lets you stream video using Airplay on the new (black) Apple TV, sync with iOS devices running 4.2, and bug fixes. I predict 4.2 will be released this weekend or on Monday maximum since it has already been in Golden Master for a while now.

iPhone 4.0.1 and iPad 3.2.1 updates now live

iPhone 4.0.1 Update

As usual thanks to Engadget I am now aware that the iPhone 4.0.1 and the iPad 3.2.1 updates are available through iTunes. These updates don’t do much, just fix the formulas for displaying signal level, however a lot of my friends have been having problems with 4.0 so maybe this will fix things. If you haven’t upgraded already connect your iPhone/iPad to iTunes and click on the Check for update button. I guess they released this just in time for tomorrow’s press conference!

How to restore iTunes Library

Today I formatted my Mac Pro, and I always run into a problem with my iTunes Library. I like to keep it off my system drive as it is a small 120gb ssd drive. When I try to tell set my iTunes folder to the other hard drive it does not recognize the library and has no songs. This is made even more frustrating when Apple decides to keep updating the folder structure (9.2 in this case). So here is how to fix your iTunes library.

1. Copy the files and folders inside the iTunes folder to the system drive and click on replace all.

2. Click on the iTunes Library file.

3. Now iTunes should open up and have your library intact and will probably update it to the new format.

4.Copy it back to the location you wish to have it at.

5.Press option (shift on pc) while opening iTunes and it will ask you which iTunes library you want to load.

6.Click Choose Library…

7.Find the iTunes folder you want and click on the iTunes Library file.

8.Now it should be working fine, you can delete the old folder!

Kush’s running tips

It is finally summer and that’s usually when I run around the mountain here in Montreal. I haven’t been exercising in a while so my body and stamina are a bit out of shape. Today I’m going to share with you how I get motivated and get back into shape using cardio.

Music – I’m pretty sure everyone enjoys music, and it makes a huge difference in motivation when it comes to exercising. I recommend songs that have a high BPM (beats per minute), which is a technical term for how fast the song’s beat is. This will get you in the running/jogging mood even if you are really tired/lazy. I have playlists that I make on iTunes prior to running in order to gain the maximum amount of motivation from the music.

Clothing – This one should be a little bit more obvious. I like to wear a white plain T-shirt and gym shorts and my running shoes. Shoes really make a difference, I am currently using Nike shox. I tried my friend’s Saucony shoes and they were much better for running, because they offered more cushioning.

Buddy system – Having a buddy for exercise really helps out. When you are not in the mood the buddy could be, and vice versa. This will really keep you motivated and eventually get you in great shape. The only warning I have here is make sure that you and your buddy have similar goals in mind or else this can be worse than not even having a buddy.

Markers – According to all the treadmills I have used over the years, to burn the most fat you must change up the speed of your run. Most fat loss cycles are about three to four minutes of running then followed by a minute or two of walking. So when I go out running around the mountain I use markers to try to imitate those fat loss routines. I use audiovisual markers such as waiting for the next song to start, or passing a specific tree or traffic sign to make me start running. When I don’t feel like running I use this method the most and it actually works; believe it or not. Below is an example of a traffic sign that I would usually use as a marker.

Temple of Life self titled album prerelease

So I’ve been listening to the band Temple of Life. They are a young band from Canada, that brings good music back to today’s terribly saturated industry. A couple of weeks ago they prereleased two singles from their album. One song is very upbeat and the other is darker. I really enjoy these songs, and look forward to buying the full album. You can purchase this prerelease on iTunes. If you would like to preview the songs before purchasing them, I have included a widget that lets you preview the songs.

Temple of Life – For The Shackled Mind (Acoustic)

Temple of Life Band

Hey Everyone, a couple of my closest friends have a band called Temple Of Life. They are a great alternative group with very interesting sounds. They have just released a free download (M4a/Mp3) for the acoustic version of “for the Shackled Mind. This song will be on their next album, which will be on iTunes. Give the song a listen and if you like it download it and spread it around. I have learned so much from the members of this band over our long friendship (17 years) and I feel they deserve great success.
