I always eat my own words and end up trying betas, some better than others, but the latest iOS Beta 14.2 Beta 2 did something pretty annoying. It made WhatsApp Videos not play and also not scrubbable. There was one workaround of just playing it on Whatsapp Web or Desktop. But if you’re not at a computer and need to watch a video right now, there was no way.
I have found a work around on iOS until it’s fixed by WhatsApp/Apple (depending if Apple broke something or WhatsApp has to update something).
- Open the video you want to play and click on the squiggly line on the bottom left that allows you to edit the video before forwarding it:
2. Press Play in the edit window to watch the video. That’s it! Now you can watch videos. It’s annoying, but better than nothing.
I’ll be submitting this feedback to both WhatsApp and Apple.

Every time I install iOS beta WhatsApp is having some issue. They’re shitty app is annoying. Telegram never had problems for me and I think it’s by far more convenient and feature rich. I wish all my friends will move to telegram…

Great … it works … I was saving each video and going to “Photos” app to watch the videos … Another’s app are not functioning either after iOS 14-2 .. That’s a pain …
Whenever you click on the search bar in your albums section from Spotify the screen froze for a while that’s due to beta iOs update too.. just FYI
Save the video to camera roll and play from there
Sure, but that’s a hassle, why have to leave the app to quickly view a video and then delete it if you don’t want to have it saved. I get sent a lot of videos, I don’t want every single one in my picture album.

First thanks for the help. And idk if it’s just me but I have tons of issues with iOS14.2. So the first thing is if I play music in the background and than watch a vid or go on an app that stops the music to play it’s own sound, my music app just crashes and I have to close it and open it again. And it’s really annoying since I’m a person that has to have music 24/7 and than has to close and open it everytime I play another sound from another app. Another thing is when the music stops I get ne notification that my AirPods are connected and my phone starts to vibrate and shows me that it’s on silent mode without me even switching it. And then specifically on tiktok when I watch a Video, Pause it, and than press Play again it takes ages to play and is buggy. The same thing happens when I just watched a vid and that it automatically plays again and it loads a long time again and is completely buggy. So the next thing has to do with WhatsApp again, when I play a audio it takes ages again to load and when I pause it, it takes a long time to play or just won’t play at all….
There are a few more things but I already wrote so much so in conclusion I can say that I really love IOS but this version just makes me wanna go to my old slow Android again…. I also uninstalled beta so idk when I get a new update but I hope soon.
