iPhone 15 Pro 2.5GbE USB-C Speed Test

So, I got the iPhone 15 Pro, and there was a lot of chatter online about the USB-C port being used to connect ethernet (and I’m guessing other accessories). Macrumors featured someone doing a gigabit speed test. I have a 1.5Gb internet connection, and a 2.5GbE USB-C ethernet dongle, so I thought I’d make a video (below) of a wired more-than-1Gb speed test. If you want to see faster, I could do a local test to a NAS (Comment below). I could also get a 10Gbe USB-C ethernet adapter, but they are expensive!

I wanted to see which was better at shooting 4K Video. Below is the YouTube video, and the links to the source files for your own comparison.

OS X 10.8.3 Released

OS X 10.8.3 Update
OS X 10.8.3 Update

Apple has released 10.8.3. Fixes a lot of issues, especially the one in which you could make a browswer crash by inputting a file address. You can download it from the Mac App Store, or if you want the combo link (updates any version of mountain lion) you can download it from Apple’s Website. I always like to grab the combo update and put it on my USB flash drive so I can update any family member or friends mac, without having to download additional updates.

Airport Base Station and Time Machine Capsule Firmware 7.6

Airport Extreme 7.6 Update

One amazing thing that I love about having multiple Apple products on the network is that they are aware of each other. Today after getting home from work, I was notified that a firmware update for my Airport Extreme was available. Why would I have an expensive router? Because Apple routers are very solid and I still have had to reset one in the three or four years that I’ve been dealing with them. It’s good to just buy one router than to keep replacing one every couple of years.

iTunes 10.1.1 Update Crash Fix

iTunes 10 Logo

If you downloaded iTunes 10.1.1 via Software Update yesterday and then tried using it you might have gotten this error like I did: “iTunes cannot be opened because of a problem.”

iTunes 10.1.1 CrashI quickly searched Google and found the solution. You have to download and install iTunes again from Apple.com. Anyways that was a quick post and I plan to do a lot more posting after exams!

iOS 4.2.1 released today

iOS 4.2 Update iTunes

Finally it has been released for iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad alike. You can get it form iTunes. No word yet on jailbreaking, although, it was reported that the Geohot’s exploit was working up to 4.2 beta 3. As of now I am updating my iPhone 4 and will report back if limera1n is working with final release of 4.2.1.

Update: I’m not sure why it says 4.2 on the update, and is actually 4.2.1. Way to confuse people Apple.

Below you can see the changelog, my favorite feature is the ability to find text in safari!

iTunes 10.1 released

iTunes 10.1 Software Update

Hot on the heels of 10.6.5 iTunes 10.1 has been released today. It was rumored on the interwebs that this update along with the iOS 4.2 (which has not been released yet) would hit the web shortly after  10.6.5. Soon all iPad owners will be rejoice as they can then multitask!

As described in the picture above, this update to iTunes lets you stream video using Airplay on the new (black) Apple TV, sync with iOS devices running 4.2, and bug fixes. I predict 4.2 will be released this weekend or on Monday maximum since it has already been in Golden Master for a while now.

Mac OS X 10.6.5 hits the pipes

10.6.5 Softeare Update

As usual thanks to Engadget for tipping me off. Today Apple released 10.6.5 on Software Update. No link to the Delta or Combo update dmgs yet, once I have found them I shall link to them. For those who don’t know what Delta and Combo mean, Delta means you must have 10.6.4 to install the update and comes in at a significant less file size than the Combo update. The Combo update on the other hand allows you to install it on any version of 10.6, so basically 10.6-10.6.4 or in computer geek terms 10.6.x. Anyways fire up software update from the top left of your Mac on the Apple menu. The bugfixes can be seen in the image above, Enjoy!

Update: Here is the link to the Combo DMG file. Delta update can be found here.

Apple introduces Mac OS X 10.7 Lion

Mac OS X Lion

Today Apple also announced the next version of OS X; 10.7 Lion. If you ask me it takes some features from the iOS, however on the sneak peak page on Apple’s website, it does not mention any of the features I was wishing for. I have not watch the full keynote as it is not available yet. Who knows maybe by the time it arrives it will have it. I was hoping for the full GPU acceleration and some other features. Oh well, go to the lion page for more information.
