    good job. You rock x2

  4. News UNITED STATES says:

You can delete the whole folder: C:\Windows\System32\oobe\INFO

After that, you will have the Windows Vista Standard Welcome Center!

PS: If you want, make a backup COPY first. Don’t move the folder out, Windows Vista will track the new location and you won’t see a difference.

  5. Kush says:

yeah but then you wont have the links to the sony vaio warranty etc that you should keep!

  6. Jerkyking UNITED STATES says:

    Thanks a bunch!!!

  7. In the INFO folder you find sub folders. They contain oobe.XML files in different languages and each folder has his own language. These oobe.XML file in a particular language describe each entry in the OEM part of the welcome screen. If you delete the entry between and including the tags, this entry is removed from the welcome screen. This way you can keep the ones you like.

yeah thats exactly what i did Joop, and uploaded it so people don’t have to do it them selves, there are some people that don’t know how to edit xml files

  9. Jose Villeta UNITED STATES says:

Thanks Kush for that tip! You make me proud!

  10. Robert Conrad CANADA says:

I apologize for being a neophyte but how does one edit or delete a XML file? I found the oobe garbage but on my Sony it’s a dll file in System 32. A search found a whole string of oobe files including the XML file. Failing that how do I replace their XML crapola with your fine edited version? Also why does Vista continually say “You do not have permission to edit this file” when I attempt to delete useless files?
    Thanks for your patience.
